Click the Search button and wait for the tool to generate the bootloader code. Save the bootloader code in a Notepad file and disconnect your phone from the PC. Extract the Huawei Unlock Bootloader.zip file and boot the phone into Fastboot mode. Double-click the Unlock-Bootloader.bat file and follow the prompts to enter the bootloader unlock code.

You don't need root to do the bootloader unlock as far as I know. It gets about one third of the way through step 1, and then skips onto Step 2/2, with the bar filled about two-thirds, and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.
